At , we greatly respect and appreciate our community of hospice caregivers.
This includes hospice staff or other professionals, physicians, nurses, chaplains, social workers, CNAs, healthcare
administrative professionals, volunteers, or anyone else that is an important caregiver in our community.
To recognize these dedicated people for their selfless devotion and generosity of heart, we have created our
“Community Caregiver Award” program.
We will honor a caregiver based upon a review of nominations received from peers, friends, patients, and their families,
or others who feel a particular person excels in their profession. We will honor one outstanding caregiver
each quarter with a gift. Please see below for previous award recipients.
Community Caregiver Award Nomination

Stacy Klein
Stacy Klein, with Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care, was awarded our Hospice Caregiver award. She took such wonderful care of her patient and their family, that after we had provided our services, the family nominated her for this award. Her help meant so much to this family that they even came to the award presentation to celebrate her! Congratulations, Stacy!
Karla Kagay
Our next award recipient, Karla Kagay, had one of the most special nominations we have ever received. Karla is with Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care and was caring for a 22 year old patient and her family. She went above and beyond her job duties to fulfill the patient’s request to spend time with a pig, since she had a pig when she was child. Karla located a mini pig near Springfield, MO. She left KC before daylight on her day off to get this pig and bring it to Kansas City and then later had to find a home for the pig. She spent extra time outside of her working hours helping this particular family and brought comfort during a very difficult situation. She also worked extra weekends so that weekend staff could have time off. When we presented this award, there was not a dry eye in the house. Congratulations, Karla!

American Legion Post 189 Hospice Volunteer Team
The American Legion Post 189 has a team of veterans that volunteers to assist fellow veterans who are on hospice. This is an amazing program where these veterans give of their time to visit and provide peace and comfort to those who have served our country. We were so pleased to attend the recent American Legion meeting to present our award to Commander John Williams for his team.
We greatly appreciate the wonderful work you are doing!

Congratulations Lee Ann!
