Yvette Jeanne Keeling (born Pillet), 95, passed away November 17th, 2018 at the age of 95. She was born September 23rd, 1923 in Lyon, France to Henri and Helene Pillet and immigrated along with her family to the U.S. in 1929 where they arrived in Kansas City, Missouri and she remained there as a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of St. Theresa Academy high school and received her college degree at Kansas City University (now UMKC). She later went back to school in the early 1960s and received her second degree in Secondary Education. She went on to dedicate her life to teaching elementary school children for over 40 years, most of which was for the Kansas City Missouri School District, as a full-time teacher and later as a substitute teacher. She was a long-time member of St. Elizabeths Catholic Parish and later Christ the King Catholic Parish.
She is survived by her three sons, John M. Keeling III, Prairie Village, Kansas, Stephen M. Keeling, Kansas City, Missouri and James D. Keeling, Johnstown, Colorado; seven grandchildren, John Keeling, Meghan Keeling, Kelle Keeling Rentas, Sarah Keeling, David Keeling, Jeffrey Keeling and Alex Keeling and six great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Mason Keeling and her sisters, Suzanne Lee and Alice Pillet and her brother, Roger Pillet.
Services will be held at Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6822 Troost Ave., Kansas City, MO on Tuesday, November 27th, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with visitation prior at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to your favorite charity.
