William Earl Bass

William Earl Bass, 76, of Lees Summit, MO, passed away September 20, 2017 at Lees Summit Medical Center. Bill was born in Richmond, IN, on October 6, 1940 to Dale and Irene Bass. He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps for 24 years and upon retirement, Bill began a new career as an IT Specialist for the United States Department of Agriculture, retiring in 2005.Bill loved and lived his Catholic faith as an active member of Our Lady of the Presentation Parish often serving in the roles of Eucharistic Minister, Lector and Altar Server. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus organization and active volunteer at Little Sisters of the Poor and member of the Association of Jeanne Jugan.Bill is survived by his loving wife, Janice, and was the proud parent, grandparent, and great grandparent of children Bill (Nancy, Elyse, Kyle, Brett, Brigette), David (Betel, Derek, Jasmine), Jeffrey (Jennifer, Cole, Laura, Jonathan, Ryker), Diane Rudder (Christi, Elijah, Thomas), and Steve Bass (Zak). He is also survived by his siblings, Edward, James, and Thomas Bass. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Robert.Visitation will be held on Monday, September 25th from 5:30 8:00pm at Our Lady of the Presentation Parish, 150 NW Murray Rd., Lees Summit, MO, with the recitation of the rosary at 5:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held the following day at 10:00am, Father Thomas Holder presiding. Burial to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, 8745 James A. Reed Rd., KCMO 64138."God will always help us.
