Will Rogers West

February 23, 1936 — April 13, 2019

Will Rogers West (Willie), age 83, of Kansas City, Kansas, was called home to Heaven on April 13, 2019. Will was born February 23, 1936 to James Willis and Mary Elizabeth West in Warrenton, MO. Will was in the Air Force from 1953-1962. He was a heavy equipment diesel mechanic at Dean Machinery for 37 years until he retired. He was a trustee at First Covenant Church. Will was proceeded in death by his 12 siblings and their spouses, and his daughter, Tina.
Will was a role model for the way he lived his life, believing in God, integrity, and family. He helped anyone that needed it without accepting anything in return. He enjoyed working on lawn mowers for everyone in the neighborhood. He had the nickname "The Lawnmower Guy" as word got around of his talent. He left a lasting impression on anyone that crossed his path. He loved visiting with all his neighbors, friends, and family. Family was important to him and he always stayed in touch. He loved talking lawn mowers with Roger and Debbie, and having family meals with Karen and Harold. We are going to miss his love, his smile, his jokes and his companionship.
Survived at the home is Wills wife of 60 years, Rose, his four-legged companions, Magic and Missy, three children; Dan (Mary) West, Lisa (Dan) Casteel, Wendy Dunn and Robert Dunn, 10 grandchildren; Michael Cullen, Amy (Jesse) Ehlen, Steven (Jessie Caldwell) West, Joe (Shelby) Casteel, Rose Casteel (Owen Bowman), Danny (Raelyn Simpson-DeMoss) Casteel, Eric Dunn, Bobby (Rachel) Dunn-Self, Sarah (Charlie) Spencer and Lauren (Scott) Stafford, 7 Great Grandchildren; Elora Ehlen, Baby Boy Casteel in May, Brodey and Bradleigh Self, Brookln and Mamie Spencer, Chloe Stafford; as well as many dear nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the First Responders, EMTs and KUs Medical team that showed us compassion and caring on April 13.
