Virginia Patch was born on October 14, 1928 by Pilot Grove, Missouri, the daughter of Nellie Doyle and Ulysses Grant Hoog. She passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at KU Medical Center after a lengthy fight with cancer. She spent most of life in the Kansas City area and was valedictorian of her class at Manual High in Kansas City, Missouri. Later she worked for City National Bank where she often saw ex-President Truman come in. After that, she worked as a bookkeeper for Crooks Warehouse. In her spare time she enjoyed reading and taking long walks. She was preceded in death by: two brothers Beaufort Ray and Brickey Ray; three sisters: LaVesta Wilson, Grace Ray and Etta Ray. She is survived by her daughter Peggy Patch, of the home. She is also survived by her sister Dorothy Hoog McCarn, a nephew Dennis McCarn (Vicky) of Gardner, Kansas, and a great-nephew Alex Collins (Brenda) of Sedalia. She also leaves behind two special little dachshunds, Gbe and Maya; and a cantankerous senior cat, Izzy. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Muehlebach Funeral Chapel, 6800 Troost Ave., Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at Muehlebach the following day, Thursday, September 30, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Burial following at 2 p.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas.
