Virginia K. Blomquist

September 7, 1921 — January 30, 2023

Virginia Blomquist, 101, of Prairie Village, Kansas, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2023, surrounded by her children.


Virginia was born on September 7, 1921, to William and Mary Kramer in Kansas City. She attended Notre Dame De Sion High School in Kansas City and Marymount College in New York. After school, she married Hiram Blomquist, and they had four children, Hiram, Jr., William, Joan and John.


Early in her life, she worked for several years as an assistant to a pediatric medical practice in Kansas City. Throughout her life, besides being a wonderful, dedicated mother, she was a dedicated volunteer in many organizations, including Research Hospital, the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, and St. Ann’s Catholic Church. She was an avid golfer, loved cooking, painting and caring for her miniature poodles.


Virginia was predeceased by her parents, William and Mary, her sisters Helen, Mary Lou and Joan, her husband, Hiram, her son, William, her grandson, Mike, and her Son-in-law, Tom Harr. She is survived by her sons, Hiram, Jr. (Helen) and John (Cindy), her daughter, Joan, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services and burial will be private. If desired, the family suggests donations to St. Luke’s Hospice House, 901 E. 104th Street, Mail Stop 100 South, Kansas City, Missouri 64131.
