Vicki Ann Sallee

After a brave three-year fight against colon cancer, Vicki Sallee passed away on December 10, 2016, in Kansas City, Missouri, at the age of 66. She leaves behind her husband, Roger Sallee; her daughters, Michelle (Duane) Cheesman and Amy (Doug) Gamble; and her son, Matthew (Sally) Sallee; as well as her nine grandchildren: Grace and Ava Cheesman; Alice, Dennis and Muriel Gamble; and Madeline, Jackson, Adelle and Bernadette Sallee.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. with a rosary starting at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 13. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 14. Both will be held at Visitation Catholic Church at 5141 Main St., Kansas City, MO 64112. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be given to Fight Colorectal Cancers Research Fund or Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care.

Vicki was born April 2, 1950, to Jack and Virginia (Ashley) Van Leeuwen, in Chanute, Kansas. She married her husband Roger, also from Chanute, in 1967, and raised a family of three children while earning her Bachelors in Business and MBA in Finance from Avila University in Kansas City, Missouri.

Vicki also leaves behind her sister, Diane Salyers, of Parsons, Kansas; and three brothers, Thom Van Leeuwen, of Denver, Colorado; Sam Van Leeuwen, of Atlanta, Georgia; and Rick Van Leeuwen, of Coffeyville, Kansas.

Vicki was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Virginia, her brother Gregory Van Leeuwen, her sister Debbie Dahl and her granddaughter, Francis Grace Sallee.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of University of Kansas Cancer Center for leading her fight against cancer and Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care for providing loving and compassionate care in her final days.
