Vera L. Clifford passed away October 4, 2014 at home. She was 101. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 8th from 6 to 8 PM at Muehlebach Funeral Care, 6800 Troost Ave. , Kansas City, Mo. where a rosary will be prayed at 7 PM. Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, October 9th at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 5500 Woodson, Mission, Ks. at 10 AM. Burial will be at Mt. St. Mary?s Cemetery, Kansas City, Mo.

Vera was born on April 17th, 1913, in Kansas City, KS, one of five children born to Julia and John Mejak. She attended Bishop Ward High School. Her first husband, Tom Doyle, was killed in World War II in the Pacific Theater. She was married to her second husband, John Clifford until his death in 1991.

Vera had a career in the FBI for many years and later worked for the Cattleman?s Association. She was an accomplished painter, an avid gardener and traveled extensively.

Preceding her in death were sisters Helen Mejak and Loretta McGowan and her brother, Monsignor Heliodore Mejak. She is survived by her sister, Frieda Bader, niece Mary Wald, nephew Fr. Denis McGowan and nephew Steve Bader and his wife Michelle.

She shared the love and friendship of her extended family, Terrence Glynn and his wife Kathy, Sue Rinella, Nancy Rottinghaus and Leo Glynn.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mission Springs Assisted Living as well as the staff of Catholic Charities Hospice Care.
