Tom O. Lance

Thomas Orville Lance, 84, a beloved father, grandfather and husband peacefully passed away on October 29, 2018 with family at his side. Tom was born November 28, 1933, son to Otto Orville Lance and Pauline Elizabeth Lance in Mayhew, MS.
The Lance family moved to Kansas City where Tom attended Southeast High School graduating in 1952 before attending and graduating from the University of Kansas. Tom was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and served in the US Army Reserves during Vietnam.
Tom enjoyed a full career as an architect having contributed on the design teams for such notable projects as KCI Airport, Arrowhead Stadium and Kauffman Stadium. Tom served more than three decades on the Overland Park Planning Commission helping shape the community he knew and loved.
Tom married Susan Reardon Lance in 1967 and will be joining her in passing. Tom is survived by Sean (son) & Megan (daughter-in-law) & Ethan (grandson) Lance, Greg Lance (son), Kim Lance (daughter) & Brad Vining (son-in-law).
To know Tom, was to love him as he was known as one of the most caring, thoughtful and selfless people who touched so many lives on a daily basis. He will be missed by all.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6800 Troost Ave., Kansas City, MO 64131, on Friday, November 2nd. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to American Diabetes Association, 7285 W 132 St., Overland Park, KS 66213.
