Thomas H. Hodes

Thomas H. Hodes, age 89, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2018 at his home surrounded by family members. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 2nd followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Church of the Ascension, 9510 W. 127th Street, Overland Park, Kansas. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Tom was born on November 10, 1928 in Kansas City, Missouri, to his parents, Henry J. Hodes and Helen (Purcell) Hodes. Tom spent his life in Kansas City. He graduated from Rockhurst High School, and then went on to receive his Bachelors Degree from University of St. Thomas in St Paul, Minnesota. Tom started his career at the family business Prier Brass Manufacturing rising to the rank of President. He followed that as an owner of Gresham and finally as Chief Financial Officer at Royal Tractor. Tom retired in December 2000 to spend more time doing what he loved; spending time with his family, reading, bowling on the family league, and keeping track of all his expenses and finances on his computer.
He is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 65 years, Margaret: sister and brother in law, Barbara and Jerry Culver; brother and sister in law, Richard and Barbara Hodes; sister Ginger Heft; great grandsons Whit and Jude Hodes. Tom is survived by his nine children, Michael Hodes (Deana Bender); Mary Ann Leiker (John); David Hodes (Debi); Peter Hodes; Susan Snodgrass (Michael); Matthew Hodes (Dina); Mark Hodes (Patti); Christopher Hodes (Marci) and Tony Hodes (Laura); 25 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; as well as his sister Jane Lague (Ben) and brother-in-law Bill (Sack) Heft.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Church of the Ascension.
