Theresa M. Owens

Theresa M. Owens, age 84, of Kansas City, MO, passed away July 11, 2018 at The Groves Nursing Home. Visitation will be on Friday, July 13th from 6:00-8:00pm, with the Rosary prayed at 7:30pm at Muehlebach Funeral Care, 6800 Troost Ave., KCMO. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 9:00am on Saturday, July 14th at St. Elizabeth Church, 2 E. 75th St., KCMO. Burial following at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.Theresa was born in St. Marys, Kansas on January 10, 1934 to Michael and Mary (Stadelman) Seitz. She was one of six children, having two brothers and three sisters. Theresa graduated from Lillis High School. It was during her high school years she met the love of her life, Robert L. Owens. They were married in 1952 and shared 50 years together before his passing in 2002. From their union, they had four children. Theresa was an incredibly hard-working woman. She took care of her four children, as well as her husband as his health declined, all while consistently working a number of jobs to take care of her family. Theresa loved to sew, enjoyed bowling, and spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed by those who knew her.Theresa is preceded in death by her parents, Michael Leo and Mary Anna; husband, Robert L. Owens; brothers, Francis and Paul; sisters, Philomena "Mena", Mary Rita, and Anne; a son, Michael L. Owens; and a daughter-in-law, Melissa Owens. Theresa is survived by her daughter, Jan M. Irick and husband Mark of Kansas City; her two sons, Nick J. Owens and his wife Gayla of Branson, MO, and Gary R. Owens and his wife Stacey of Independence, MO; as well as nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.Memorial contributions may go to the St. Elizabeth Church Food Panty in honor of Theresa.
