The Rev. Robert Hardy Stewart

The Rev. Robert Hardy Stewart, 69, was called home Friday, December 15, 2017. The rosary will be prayed at 3:45 pm, Wednesday at St. Patrick Parish, 1357 NE 42nd Terr., KCMO 64116 followed by visitation until 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am, Thursday, December 21st at St. Patrick Parish. Interment at Calvary Cemetery.
Robert was born on September 5, 1948 in Topeka, Kansas. He graduated from De Le Salle High School, Rockhurst University and Kenrick Seminary College. He was ordained on June 5, 1982. Robert was honorable discharged from the Army National Guard, May of 1978.
Fr. Robert spent 35 years with the diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph serving as Associate Pastor at St. Louis, Blessed Sacrament and St. Peter Parishes. Fr. Robert served as Pastor at Blessed Sacrament, Holy Family, St. Margaret of Scotland and St. Patrick Parishes. Father Robert took pride in ministering to the children of St. Patrick School. He was also active in community service and served on multiple boards of director, including his Alma matter, Rockhurst University. Besides his parochial work, Fr. Stewart served as an instructor at Bishop Hogan High School, Vocations Director as well as a spiritual director and volunteer at St. Teresas Academy.
Fr. Robert is preceded in death by his mother, Sally; and brother, William. He is survived by his sister, Marjorie Green and husband Webb; nieces, Vauncille Bartlett (Anthony) Gwen Green, Marli Bartlett and Lorna Green; nephews, Ron Green, Lionel Green (Detrice), Thaddeus Green and Jared Green.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested in his memory to the Bright Futures Fund, Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph or Rockhurst University.
