Terri Jackson, 47, passed away October 10, 2018, at her home. A visitation will be held Tuesday, October 16, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Thomas More Parish, 11822 Holmes Rd, KCMO 64131.
Terri was born May 28, 1971, in Overland Park, KS. She attended Shawnee Mission West High School before obtaining her GED and attending Johnson County Community College for accounting. She held bookkeeping and account positions at several companies.
She had two beautiful daughters, Tiffany and Taylor. Tiffany is a Senior at Shawnee Mission West High School. After Taylor passed in a house fire while on a sleep over in 2011, Terri started "Taylor Your Home 4 Safety" to spread awareness about the importance of working smoke detectors.
Terri had many interests. She enjoyed making teddy bears in fabrics special to the recipient such as colleges, specific hobbies or Girl Scouts. She had taken up quilting, making them as gifts for friends and family and donating them for fundraising events. She liked making scarves and hats using her knitting loom. Terri was a Girl Scout leader for Tiffanys troop for several years and assisted in coaching cheerleading. She enjoyed camping and helping at events.
During college basketball season Terri would join friends to cheer on her beloved Jayhawks. She also loved getting together with friends and Tiffany to watch some of her favorite programs, including The Bachelor/Bachelorette series and American Idol.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Taylor Jackson; her sister, Sarah Kashka; and her biological father, Jim Huggins. She is survived by her parents, Leroy and Judy Kashka; daughter, Tiffany Jackson; brothers, Tim Huggins (Sheryl) and James Kashka; nephew, Alex Huggins; and niece, Lauren Kashka.
Donations in memory of Terri for camping scholarships can be made to Girl Scouts of NE KS & NW MO, Inc., 8383 Blue Parkway Drive, Kansas City, MO 64133.
