Susan Agnes Cunningham Richards, 82, from Prairie Village, Kansas, died of natural causes on July 6, 2021 surrounded by family. Sue or Gigi, as she was called by her grandchildren, was born January 4,1939 in Newark, New Jersey to Edward and Mary Cunningham. She graduated from the Academy of St. Joseph High School in Brentwood, New York. While vacationing in Quogue, Long Island, she met the love of her life, Mike Richards, at the age of 12. They were married December 26,1961 and moved to Prairie Village, Kansas, January 1,1976. She embraced moving to Prairie Village and graduated from Johnson County Community College in 1988. Her career included obtaining her Kansas Insurance Agents license. Her favorite job included her time at the Greater Kansas City of Chamber of Commerce in the 1990s. She was an avid tennis player, enjoyed playing bridge, vacations at the beach every year, cook outs with neighbors, and most of all spending time with her 3 children and 11 grandchildren. Family was everything to her.
Sue is survived by her husband, Mike; children Mike Richards,Jr (Cindy) Glen Allen, VA, Ted Richards (Barbi) Overland Park,KS and Liz Henry (Kyle) Castle Hayne, NC; 11 grandchildren, Sara Hagberg, Tim Richards, James Richards (Lauren), Morgan Richards, Matthew Richards, Russell Richards, Mary Kate Richards, Cooper Henry, Sage Henry, Natalie Richards, and Christo Henry; sisters, Nancy Cunningham NJ, and Jane Cunningham CO; plus numerous nieces and nephews around the country. A celebration of Sues life along with a reception will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in Overland Park, Kansas.
