Stephen Robert Schmitz

Stephen Robert (Schmitty) Schmitz, 70, passed away at home on April 2, 2024 under the care of his siblings and Kansas City Hospice.   Schmitty was born in Kansas City, Missouri on August 5, 1953.  His childhood was lived in the neighborhood of 51^st and Main where he lived with his five brothers and sisters and his parents, Robert and Mary Jeanne Harvel.   His family will have a private Celebration of Life and he will be placed in a niche at Forest Hill Cemetery with his parents.  Schmitty was a Chiefs fan from before they were in Kansas City.  He loved sitting on the porch drinking beer with his friends.   He leaves his sisters and brothers; Jane (Craig) Horn, Peggy Armstrong, Brad (Cindy) Schmitz, Guy Schmitz and  Victoria Darby.  He also leaves three nephews and five nieces, six great nieces and one great nephew.  The family appreciates the care Kansas City Hospice gave and if memorials are given, please give to the hospice organization in Schmitty’s honor.
