Stephen Michael Logan

October 5, 1978 — November 7, 2025

Kansas City, Missouri

When we think about Steve Logan, it’s impossible to describe him with just one story, one title, or one moment. He was a dad, husband, son, grandson, brother, uncle, firefighter, and friend— but somehow, all those pieces together made something even bigger. Steve was the kind of person who reminded us that the sum is always greater than its parts.

Every part of his life mattered. The way he showed up for his crew, spending late nights swapping stories, cracking jokes, and finding family in the guys who had his back no matter what. The way he could fix (a.k.a. break) anything — except maybe his habit of helping everyone before himself. The way he helped complete strangers as if they were lifelong friends. The way he checked in on his mom, dad, sister, nieces and nephews with frequent phone calls, texts, and TikToks. He always made sure they knew how much he loved them. Each piece, small on its own, built a life filled with love, laughter, and purpose.

While each piece of his life mattered, his family was his whole world. You can see his best qualities living on in his kids — in Siena, with her big heart and way of making everyone feel seen; in Stevie, whose loyalty and quiet strength are pure Steve; and in Sophia, whose laughter carries the same light he shared with everyone around him.

Like all of us, Steve faced his battles. His struggle with alcohol addiction was part of his story — but it never defined him. What defined him was his courage, his heart, and his willingness to keep trying. He taught us that even in the hardest moments, there’s room for honesty, connection, and hope.

To honor Steve, let’s carry forward the way he lived: piece by piece, act by act. Help someone. Laugh loudly. Check in. Love your people fiercely. Because when we put all those pieces together — all those small kindnesses and brave moments — that’s when we become something greater than the sum of our parts.

Steve will be welcomed into his heavenly home by his father, Roy Leonard Logan, and many other family and friends who have gone before him. It gives comfort to his family knowing he will now be at peace.

Granite City, Illinois services will be held on Wednesday, November 12th at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 2300 Pontoon Rd, Granite City, IL 62040. A private family viewing will be at 10:30am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am.
