Sandra (Sandy) Kay Logan Beaty departed this world on August 24, 2021. Sandy was born February 20, 1944 in St. Joseph, MO. Her Family Moved to Kansas City when she was young, where she went on to attend Southwest High School, Class of 1962. She graduated from Baker University with a BA, and from SMU where she earned a Master's degree in English.
In March of 1975, she married Roy Beaty. Along with raising children, Sandy and Roy opened the Bookshop at Brookside in 1980. They spent many happy years there, selling books, and making many friends along the way. She made the tough decision to leave the bookstore in 1995, but had a long and successful career in several departments at UMKCwhere, of course, she made many more life-long friends.
If Sandy was out somewhere, inevitably, she would bump into a someone from all walks of her life. She was a friend to many, but her greatest joy was her family. Her daughter and step-daughter, their spouses, and her four grandchildren were the light of her life.
She will be remembered for her warm personality, her special way of connecting with people, her quick wit, her love of reading, writing, and crosswords, and her great love of her home, her family, and her friends. She has been called "a rare piece of beauty in this world".
Sandy leaves behind her loving husband, Roy, daughter, Laura (Elliott) Seymour, step-daughter, Stephanie (Nick) Morris, four grandchildren that she was VERY proud of: Connor Morris, Kaitlyn Morris, Noel Seymour, and Lennon Seymour, her brother David (Katie) Logan, three brothers-in-law and their spouses, along with many nieces that would all argue over who was her favorite. Sandy was preceded in death by her wonderful parents, Dale and Lois Logan, her beloved sister, Mary Beth Logan, and her nephew Stewart Beaty.
Services will be held in the future.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Parkinson's Foundation.
