Russell “Rusty” Dean Riegel, 60, a proud Veteran of the US Army passed away peacefully July 10, 2022, in the comfort of his home. Rusty was born June 18, 1962, to Arthur J and Shirley J (Scott) Riegel in Jefferson City, Missouri.
Rusty is survived by his only daughter, Andrea Robinett, one sister, Kimberly Riegel Ames, and two brothers, Clarence “Ralph” Riegel (Debbie) and Elmer Riegel (Deborah), several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, aunt, uncle, and special friends Gretchen, Sarah, and Maggie Hummel.
Rusty enlisted in the United States Army right after he graduated high school in 1980 and was honorably discharged after sustaining an injury while on active duty in Germany. After being discharged, Rusty attended and graduated Merrell University and obtained his professional license.
Rusty loved animals and supported the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). Rusty was also an avid sports fan and absolutely loved the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs and his favorite hangout was Grinders Pizza in the Crossroads where he acquired many dear friends over the years. Rusty was an amazing individual that truly loved his family and friends; he was out-going, fun-loving, and such a beautiful and kind soul. Rusty will truly be missed by all whom had the pleasure of knowing and loving him!
Rusty was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, great niece Isabella Ann Ames, and his special friend Gary Hummel.
A celebration of life and a private interment for Rusty’s family and close friends will be held at a later date, information will be provided via social media.
