LIVESTREAM FOR MASS WILL BE AVAILABLE HERE ABOUT 10min BEFORE STARTING TIME

Ronald "Ron" Buckley, a devoted man of profound faith and unwavering dedication to serving others, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, after 86 years of a long and fulfilled life. Born on July 3, 1939, Ron’s life was defined by his quiet strength, quick wit, and the spirited orneriness that endeared him to many.

From an early age, Ron exhibited a commitment to service and learning, which was reflected in his varied and meaningful pursuits. Ron was very involved with the Boy Scouts throughout his high school years and later achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Also while in high school, Ron had the honor of dancing on The Dick Clark Show for five episodes! After graduating, he began working at St. Mary's Hospital and attended Radiology School where he received his certification. In an important chapter of his spiritual journey following his time at St. Mary's, Ron spent two years as a monk after attending Conception Abbey in Conception, MO, embodying a life of contemplation and devotion. It was after these two years that Ron was led to enlist in the United States Army where he spent three years proudly serving our country.

Ron’s professional career was marked by dedication and longevity. He prided himself on his role as Division Manager at Paramount Liquor, a position he held with enthusiasm beginning in 1988, until his retirement in 2007. Prior to that, he was involved in procuring liquor for Milgram’s Grocery until its closure in 1987. Throughout his career, Ron was known not only for his expertise but for his genuine care and ability to anticipate the needs of others—often well before it was known that something was needed. Ron was incredibly special that way.

Known for his reserved nature, Ron preferred to observe special occasions without fanfare, valuing sincerity over spectacle. His personality shimmered through his sharp and witty humor, a tempered orneriness, and a steadfast resolve to maintain independence, rarely asking for help even when it might have been welcomed. Yet, anyone privileged to know Ron could attest to his unwavering reliability: he was famously known to ALWAYS be there for you, offering support in countless ways. He listened intently, remembered intricate details about people’s lives and families, and he truly, deeply cared—a quality that left a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.

Ron’s warm spirit extended beyond human connections to his cherished four-legged companions (his horses), Cody and Red Rocks. The gentle camaraderie he shared with them brought light and joy to his days, underscoring a rare tenderness beneath his otherwise firm exterior. His love of shopping and lively conversations about food--often tinged with his own strong opinions--revealed a man who savored life’s simple pleasures alongside his commitments.

Throughout his life, Ron was actively engaged with the Brothers of the Lamb and Little Sisters of the Poor monastery groups in Kansas City, and St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, fortifying his spiritual life and community bonds. His faith was a cornerstone that grounded him, guiding his actions and relationships.

Ronald was the beloved son of the late George W. Buckley and Geraldine (nee Hembree) McBrien, who preceded him in death. Their legacy lives on in the quiet yet impactful life he led. Ron is deeply missed by those he now watches over; his sister, Beverly Anne Parks; nephews Mike Lewis and Jerry Buckley; his great niece; as well as many extended family, dear friends, his special neighbors at Lochkirk Estates and church family at St. Margaret’s.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Kansas City Hospice House for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Ron during his final days.

A Mass of Christian Burial to honor Ron’s life will be held at 11:00a.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, 777 NE Blackwell Road, Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City, Missouri.

Ronald "Ron" Buckley’s life was a testament to humility, faith, and selfless service. He leaves a silent yet enduring echo of compassion and care—a legacy that will be cherished by family, friends, and those grateful to have known him.
