Ronald Dale McGathy

Ronald Dale McGathy, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on July 24, 2026, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on October 27, 1950, in Bastrop, Louisiana. Ronald spent his final days surrounded by his family.

Known for his selflessness, Ronald would do anything for anyone, never complaining or seeking recognition. Those who relied on him found a steadfast source of support, comfort, and reliability.

A man grounded by the values of hard work and dedication, Ronald devoted the majority of his professional life to working in construction. His commitment and skill were apparent in every project he was a part of, but perhaps his most cherished professional achievement was the honor he felt when he joined his brother Dean’s firm, A&M Construction. Working alongside family gave Ronald great pride, reinforcing the bonds that meant so much to him.

Above all, Ronald treasured time with his family. His happiest moments were those spent gathered with loved ones, sharing stories, offering guidance, or simply enjoying each other’s company. In addition, Ronald also enjoyed collecting old coins, a hobby that reflected his appreciation for history and the stories carried by things passed down through generations.

Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Maude McGathy. He leaves behind his children: Randy Trent, Buddie McGathy, Sr., Rhonda Dudley, and Agnes Magnet. Ronald’s legacy continues through his grandchildren: Buddie McGathy, Jr., Larisa McGathy, Micha McGathy, Randy Trent, Jr., Brandon Trent, Aubrionna Dudley, Sadira Kleinkauf, Gerious Magnet, Maranda McGathy, Tony McGathy, Riley McGathy, Mason McGathy, and Liam McGathy, as well as 11 great-grandchildren. He will also be deeply missed by his siblings: Fred McGathy, Bill McGathy, Dean McGathy, Sylvia Sample, Pat Decker, Pam Gilman and several nieces and nephews.

Ronald was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred McGathy, and his father, Aubrey McGathy. He is also reunited with his brothers, Gene and Lynn McGathy, and his beloved son, Timmy McGathy.

As friends and family remember Ronald, his enduring legacy will be seen in the countless lives he touched with his generosity, humility, and steadfast love. The lessons he shared and the love he gave will remain in the memory of those who knew him.
