Roger Stanley Wilkins, Jr. ,60, passed away on May 18, 2023 at his home in Peculiar, Missouri.
Roger was born to Roger Stanley Wilkins and Barbara Lou (Caulfield) Wilkins on December 5,
1962 in Kansas City, Missouri. Growing up, Roger worked with his father who owned a service
station in Kansas City. He attended St. Regis and O’Hara’ High School, where he was a member
of the 1980 state championship football team. After graduating high school, he spent 2 years as
a member of the United States Army before being honorably discharged. When he returned
from the army, he again went to work with his father at Wilkins and Son’s, a lawn irrigation
business for several years before going to work for Siler Lawn and Garden. Roger married Lisa
Ising on June 13, 1986. Together, they raised three children – Sam, Ali and Loren. In 1993, Roger
started Wilkins Lawn & Irrigation, a business he operated until his passing. He took great pride
in his work and enjoyed being able to operate a successful small business taking care of his
customers. In 1997, the family moved from Kansas City to Peculiar, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roger and Barbara Wilkins, his father-in-law Jack Ising,
mother-in-law Connie Ising, and brothers-in-law Rick and Gary Ising. He is survived by his wife
Lisa Wilkins, children Sam (Kelli) Wilkins, Alyssa (Josh) Ballard, Loren (Coby) Jordan, step-mother
Melanie Wilkins, sister Valerie (Michael) Kincade, brother Steve Wilkins, grandchildren Anna,
Kinley, Beau, Avery, Max, Carly, and Sophie, in-laws John (Paula) Ising, Debbie (John) Borgman,
Tom (Renee) Ising, Theresa (John) Rellihan, and Chris (Erin) Ising, as well as numerous nieces
and nephews.
Roger’s family will be hosting a Celebration of Life on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Centerview (227
Municipal Cir, Raymore, MO 64083) from 4:00pm-8:00pm. This event is intended to be very
casual as Roger would have wanted it. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution
to the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation (umfd.org) or the Arbor Day Foundation
(arborday.org).
