Rocky Dale Majors, 64, passed away at his home on Friday, December 19. Rocky was born November 7, 1961 to Jim and Geneva Majors. He was a lifelong Kansas City area resident, growing up North of the River. Excelling in football, basketball, baseball, and band at Winnetonka High School, Rocky graduated in 1980 and pursued employment in the oil fields of West Texas. Returning to Kansas City, he studied and became a Ford Motor Mechanic and went to work for MoDoT for 30 years. After retiring from MoDoT, Rocky worked as a mechanic for the city of Kansas City.
In his spare time, Rocky enjoyed working on all things mechanical, especially “The Hammer,” his beloved 1994 Dodge Ram pickup with, of course, the Cummins Diesel. When he wasn’t working in his garage, he enjoyed deer-hunting up at Stumpy’s Place, or fishing at Truman Lake (despite his inability to actually catch any!), where he kept and maintained several connected lake lots with his campers.
Rocky had a magnetic, ornery personality full of self-deprecation and selflessness. He never met a stranger and made every room better with him in it, especially if there was a dance floor. Despising his cell phone, he much preferred in-person conversations over “those stupid texts,” to which he was slow to reply, if at all.
In addition to his brand new 2025 Ford F-350, numerous friends and family, Rocky leaves behind his wife Mary Kay of 35 years, his son Jake, and his daughter Emily. He also leaves his brother, Rex Majors, and his sister, Jamie Majors, both of the area.
