Robert "Bob" Atchity, 83, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Friday, March 19, 2021. Bob was born in Kansas City, MO on October 17, 1937 to Anthony P. Atchity, Sr. and Carolyn (Melham) Atchity. He graduated from De La Salle High School and then entered the grocery business with his father and brother. He worked in the grocery business most of his life, ultimately owning stores of his own called Atchitys Quality Foods. Bob retired in 1990, selling his last store at 75th and Wornall. After retiring, Bob joined the William Kryger, Sr. family as a sales representative for almost 20 years; retiring again in June of 2012.
Bob was proud to be elected to the Board of Directors of the Retail Grocers Association in 1984. He was also a member of the Kansas City Breakfast Club where he served as the Executive Director for 10 years. Bob served as an Usher at St. Thomas Mores 4 pm Saturday Mass for over 20 years. He was proud to be the last full-blooded Lebanese male in the Atchity family and was very proud of his heritage.
Bob was preceded in death by his second wife, Mary Jane, in 2007, his parents, and his brother, Anthony P. Atchity, Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Alisa Yamasaki (Shin), two granddaughters, Amy and Karen of Huntington Beach, California, and Kristen Reed and granddaughter Katie.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on, Thursday, March 25, 2021, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
