Robert Lee Cotton

Robert Lee Cotton MD passed away after a prolonged illness on December 15, 2021 at the age of 79. Bob was born to the late Richard and Marie (Rink) Cotton in Lebanon, Pennsylvania on October 15, 1942. He spent his formative years in Geneseo, Illinois and graduated from Geneseo High School in 1960. He then went on to the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana and graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 1967. He served 2 years in the US Army as a surgeon at the Yokohama Army Hospital in Japan, treating returning soldiers who were wounded in Viet Nam. He then completed an Ear, Nose and Throat residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1974.
Bob lived in Modesto, California where he was a practitioner of Ear, Nose and Throat surgery with the Gould Medical Group until his retirement. He was an avid golfer as a member of the Del Rio Country Club. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Sharon. He is survived by his brother, Dr. Tom Cotton and wife, Terri, his nephew, Greg Cotton, both of Kansas City and by his niece, Amy Cotton Peterson and husband, Grant of Phoenix, Arizona. Bob is also survived by his wifes grandchildren, Angela Quinteros, Jordan Amarant and Alicia Amarant of Modesto.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Visitation Catholic Church Tuesday, December 28th at 10 a.m. A military burial will follow at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff of Anthology on the Plaza for their professional and loving care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Visitation Catholic Church or The Chrysalis Domestic Violence Shelter, Phoenix, Arizona.
