A celebration of Bob’s life will be held as an open house October 15th from 2 to 5 at his home in Kansas City, Missouri.

Robert Earl Godwin was born June 24th, 1950, in Roanoke Rapids, NC. He was the middle child of three boys. After graduating from high school, Bob enlisted in the US Navy and served for four years. Upon discharge Bob completed his undergraduate degree and went on to LSU (Louisiana State University) for his Law Degree. While Bob was in the Navy, he married Gretchen Carpenter and settled in Lafayette, LA where their son Casey was born. In 1998, Bob moved to Chicago to work in Telecom, and he met Elizabeth Sinkler. Bob and Liz married in 2000 and in 2003 they moved to Kansas City, MO.

Bob was an enthusiastic LSU Tiger fan, and an avid reader of military history. He loved to fish, hunt and share the tomatoes from his garden with the neighbors. He enjoyed travelling with Liz and together they visited many places including Australia, Spain, Portugal and their last Thanksgiving they spent in Italy. Bob also loved the ruggedness of the Southwest and he and Liz spent a lot of time in Santa Fe, NM.

Bob will be missed by all who knew him. He was kind, funny, smart and loving. Please join his family on October 15th at 7400 Jarboe Street in Kansas City, Missouri from 2 to 5, to share Bob stories. As he always loved to tell people when introducing himself, “I’m Bob Godwin, that’s Bob with two B’s”, and then a little wink.
