Rita Pittard

Rita S. Pittard, 86, passed away April 5, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be held from 5:30-7:30pm Thursday, April 9th at Muehlebach Funeral Care, 6800 Troost Ave, Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Friday at Muehlebach Funeral Care followed by interment at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.

Rita was born July 21, 1928 in Kansas City, MO to Harry and Zelma Saunders. She graduated from MU with a fine arts degree in Music and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Rita spent most of her life singing in neighborhood church choirs and as a soloist at Memorial Christian Church. She worked in professional relations for Blue Cross-Blue Shield for 30 years. Rita was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Don Pittard. Survivors include her brother Stanley Saunders; daughters, Valerie Youngs and husband Stuart, Adrienne "Kelly" Pittard-Mize and husband Ronald; grandchildren, Olivia Pittard and Andrew Mize; step-son John Pittard and wife Teresa; niece Donna Erbs, husband Ira and their two children Gabriel and Sam; cousins Shannon Phipps and Larry and Cheryl Pandjeras.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer?s Association and Crossroads Hospice.
