Obituary

He was born April 29, 1951 in Jerome, Idaho, to his parents Alberta and Edith Wright. From the beginning of his life, Rick was very friendly and an outgoing, kind, person.

He was working from a young age to help support his family by moving furniture, helping neighbors, and biking around as the newspaper boy. Rick was actually chosen as the best newspaper seller at age 13! He also attended church with his Mom and Dad.

Rick graduated from BYU at Provo, Utah, where he studied Computer Science and English. He received Bachelor’s Degrees in both. Rick was very smart and talented; he knew how to fix cars, and other useful things like replacing an entire engine. He was working at car shops, and had other jobs, to support himself in his early years.

After college, he married, and also started new careers with Southwest Airlines, Sperry Univac, and Manpower, as a Computer Programmer and I.T. Technician. His work moved him to Minneapolis, Milwaukee, and Chicago throughout the years. Once he retired, Rick worked at Stein Mart in Kansas City where his charm and personality attracted anyone, acquaintances and strangers alike. He was always smiling and laughing.

Rick always had health problems such as diabetes and hypertension, to name a couple. He never complained though, even after he lost his leg and three fingers from each hand. Rick used a wheelchair for many years and was still smiling and didn’t complain.

Rick passed away June 18, 2026, peacefully at home. He was a dialysis patient with kidney failure, and his diabetes was very hard on him. Rick leaves behind his wife, Lila Aghili, after 26 years together; his children, Adam M. Wright, Aaron B. Wright, and Lindsay Lee Wright; friend and former wife, Ms. Penny; his twin sister, Debora Mullins; seven grandchildren; as well as cousins, nephews, nieces, and other dear family and friends from Idaho and Kansas City.

Lila misses him every day, deeply. Rickie will be missed by everyone who met him. May God Rest His Soul…
