Richard Phelps

Richard L. Phelps, 80, of Kansas City, MO passed away July 16, 2018. A memorial service will be held August 4th at the Wornall Apartments, in the Plaza room from 2-4pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the National Museum of the American Indian, 4th St SW & Independence Ave SW, Washington, DC 20560. Born December 18, 1937 to Ory S. and Evelyn K. Phelps in St. Louis, MO. Richard graduated from Hogan High School and the Kansas City Art Institute. He taught school in Kansas City, MO and retired from Longview Community College. Richard is survived by his partner of 52 years, Mitchell Wood; a sister, Judy Dechant. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Michael D. Phelps.
