Rafael L. Garcia, 86, of Kansas City, MO passed away on December 13, 2020. Rafael was born in Valle de Olivos, Chihuahua, Mexico to Antonio and Gregoria (Loya) Garcia. Rafael moved to the United States from Mexico and became a Citizen of the United States. He married Estela Gonzalez on February 14, 1970. Rafael spent 25+ years of his life working for Lipton retiring in 1997. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church for over 60 years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Rafael enjoyed bowling and was in a league for many years. He was very active with the March of Dimes Charity, too. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, volunteering, and painting.
Rafael is survived by his wife, Estela Garcia of Kansas City, MO; son, Ralph Garcia, Jr. of Kansas City, MO; daughters Mary Ellen Klos of Kansas City, MO, Sandra Lee Tallant of Orange County, CA, Laura Garcia-Moore of Independence, MO, Maria Sykes of Kansas City, MO; brothers Manuel Garcia of Independence, MO, Raul Garcia of Kansas City, MO, Alfredo Garcia of Liberty, MO; sister Irene Mendez of Olathe, KS; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Barbara Marie Ramirez, parents, 4 brothers, and 1 sister.
Private Family Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Christ the King Catholic Church . Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery at 10:30 am. Friends are invited to attend the committal service at the cemetery. Services are under the direction of Muehlebach Funeral Care. Memorial contributions can be made, in Rafaels name to American Diabetes Association. The Mass will be livestreamed via Facebook Live on Muehlebachs Facebook page. The stream will start when the recording begins around 9 am.
