On Wednesday, November 19th, 2025, Priscilla F. Riegel, 87, of Lee’s Summit, MO, received her greatest gift, to see her Lord and Savior. Priscilla was born in Taos, NM in 1938, to Atilano and Fedelina Madrid. Priscilla spent most of her childhood in Colorado after her mother passed when she was just 7 years old. After High School, Priscilla joined the Army which lead her to Missouri where she met her husband, Frederick James Riegel. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary together last year November 2024.
Priscilla was a woman of many strong passions. Passion for work, sports, family, and most importantly faith in Jesus Christ. She was a little dynamo. Full of love, strength, and tenacity. She was a hard worker in everything she did, making sure all tasks were completed and done right. She worked in banking most of her life where she made lifelong friends and almost never took a sick day. She had a great passion for sports. She always had a game on the radio or TV. It didn’t really matter which sport it was either. Of course, she was most passionate about the Royals and the Chiefs. She knew every player’s name and wrote down her own stats during the games. She was at the Royals home opener for 25 years straight and a season ticket holder for the Chiefs. She looked adorable all decked out in her Chiefs gear with her wolf ears hat on. She watched most every game since they became the Chiefs.
Priscilla was so deeply passionate and lovingly devoted to family. She was always there for them, kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Whether it was helping with schoolwork, driving to practice, games, or a friend’s house, she was always there, even in hard times taking physical care of loved ones. She was an excellent cook and loved to cook everyone’s favorite dish or have their favorite snacks on hand. She was an excellent person to talk with and gain incredible advice from. She showed great love to all.
Priscilla was also extremely passionate in her faith. She read the Bible daily both morning and night. She attended mass every week, prayed the rosary often and served as Eucharistic minister for years. She was always reading new books on faith and often shared or purchased them for family and friends. She lived her life selflessly and showed us all what it meant to be a great Christian woman following Christ.
Priscilla was so kind to everyone; she made lifelong friends wherever she went. She did an excellent job of keeping in touch with those she didn’t get to see often. Although she lived out of town from her parents, she called them every week, same day & time. She may have been little in physical stature, but her heart was huge, and she wouldn’t let anything stop her from getting the job done. She profoundly touched the lives of so many around her. She will be missed terribly.
Priscilla is preceded in death by her husband Fred, earlier this year, both her parents Atilano and Fedelina, as well as her stepmother Erminia Madrid, brothers Luciano, Gilberto, Theodore, Ernesto, Rogelio, and sister Margaret. She is survived by her children; Nancy Fitzsimmons of Kansas City, MO, Tracy Pogue (Charles) of Blue Mound, KS, and Brian Riegel (Patrick McWilliams) of Lee’s Summit, MO. She leaves eight grandchildren, Kelly, Joseph, Ryan, Katherine, Hamilton, Garrett, Sophia and Julia; six great grandchildren, Sabrina, Patrick, Gabrielle, Joe, Tara and Cooper, as well as four great great grandchildren, Harlin, Ronin, Hayes and Highly. Priscilla is also survived by her sister Isabel, and brothers, Henrique (Louise) and Frank (Mary) as well as many friends of her children and grandchildren that thought of her as a second mother or grandmother.
The funeral Rosary and Mass will be held on Friday, December 12th beginning at 10:30a.m. at Our Lady of Presentation Church, 130 NW Murray Road, Lee’s Summit, MO 64081. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 8745 James A Reed Rd, Kansas City, MO 64138.
