Peter Claver Alpough

Peter Alpough, 86, of Olathe, KS left this earth surrounded by his family on June 2, 2023. Peter was born on September 9, 1936 in Lebeau, LA on a day the world became a little brighter. His parents were Isaac and Blanche Alpough. 

Those who knew Peter, saw him as a man full of joy and laughter, a pillar of strength and inspiration. Peter took the time to sit and talk with people, and always listened and offered wisdom. He was able to make people feel welcomed, loved, and heard. Despite many obstacles at a young age, Peter persevered and thrived, creating a beautiful life around him. Peter was a self-taught avid golfer. Peter was a lifelong learner, who enjoyed reading books about philosophy, astronomy and history. He loved to write poetry and stories that expressed his ideas about what he learned from his life experiences. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Susie Alpough, who was the love of his life, and six siblings. He is survived by his children, Sonya and Daran and his wife Michelle, his five grandchildren, Lena and her husband Matthew, Colin, Justin, Claire, and Maya. Peter’s love and memories will last forever. We love and miss him dearly.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00a.m., Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at St. John Francis Regis Parish, Kansas City, Missouri. Rosary and visitation to begin at 10:00a.m. Burial will immediately follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.
