Paul Schlitzer, 83, of Belton, Missouri, passed away September 26th, 2025, at the home he loved to share with family, friends, and anyone that drove under the “PAULBROOK” archway.
The Rosary will be prayed at 9:30am on Friday, October 3rd at St. Thomas More Church, 11822 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, followed by Visitation, with Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you do a random act of kindness in his honor.
Paul was born October 22, 1941 in Owosso, MI to Carl and Nellie Schlitzer. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister, Jody Berry (Bruce) and his children; Jeff Schlitzer (Paige), Kevin Schlitzer (Michelle), Rick Schlitzer (Carla), Paula Farris (Matt), Diana Smith (Aaron), and Michael Schlitzer (Angie), 19 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way.
Affectionately known as “Popo”, he now joins his spouse and one true love of 59 years, Carol “Momo”. And with a humorous smirk, he let us know that his biggest fear was not of death, but finding out that Momo had a new boyfriend in Heaven when he finally rejoined her. So….prayers up for Paul y’all.
Paul’s greatest accomplishments in life were always achieved with friends and family by his side. He owned a business from 1971-2005 with his best friend, and employed many family members and friends during that time. He brought in modern guitar music and vocals with fellow parishioners at St. Catherine’s Church. Paul and Carol were instrumental with the starting of the Teens Encounter Christ (TEC) retreats for young adults, also with priest friends and their couples friends. Paul sponsored a little league baseball team at 3&2, coached by his friends for many years. The names of many of these life long friends are still on the prayer list by his bedside table. Paul’s life is a true example that life is a journey travelled best with the ones that you love.
Thank you to everyone who was a blessing in his life, and thank you Paul for the blessing you were in ours.
