Patricia Payne Rogers

February 1, 1929 — July 2, 2021

Patricia (Patty) Payne Rogers, 92, of Leawood, Kan., died peacefully in her home on July 2, 2021. She was an inspiration to so many who loved being around her because of her joyful spirit and giving heart.
Patty was the youngest of three children born to Harry and Myrtle Foley. She grew up in Troy and Highland, Kan. and graduated from Bishop Lillis High School in Kansas City, Mo. Her dad died when she was 3 years old, and both her brothers died while serving in the military during World War II. She married Bill Payne shortly after he returned from serving in the Navy and they made their home in Mission, Kan., eventually moving to Prairie Village, Kan. A few years after Bills death, she was reintroduced to a former high school acquaintance, Jim Rogers, who was visiting from Seattle and also widowed. They were married in 2000 and split their time between Seattle, Wa. and Leawood, Kan. before deciding to settle in the current Leawood residence.
Patty devoted herself to her children when they were growing up before establishing a career as an interior designer. Her creative touch and sense of style were sought after by both residential and commercial clients. She loved her work and her clients, and many also became her friends. She enjoyed golf, bridge and travel with friends and family. She also enjoyed hosting luncheons as a member of the Cure of Ars Kitchen of Ars group. She taught childrens religious education and was a regular volunteer at the St. Marys Food Kitchen and a long-time member of Ladies of Charity, where she volunteered to serve at the Seton Center Thrift Store and Food Pantry.
Patty was preceded in death by her husband Bill Payne in 1996, her husband Jim Rogers in 2011, and her brothers Billy Bob Foley and Harry James Foley Jr. She is survived by her children David (Diane) Payne, Paula (Emmett) Logan, John (Sally) Payne, Mary (Bob) Lambrechts, Megan (Jim) Riggs, 13 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren, and Jims children Kelly (Tracy Miller) Carmichael, Carrie (Jeff) Scrabeck, John Rogers, Krissy Dyson and their families.
The family is especially grateful for her regular caregivers, Kay, Aliki, Karen, Christine, Valencia, and Moh who became a part of the family during her final months.
The funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 9, at St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Leawood, Kan. with visitation preceding at 9 a.m. Ladies of Charity will pray the rosary at 10 a.m. A luncheon will also be held immediately following Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Ladies of Charity of Metropolitan Kansas City, Heart to Heart International, or Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas.
