Patricia Ann Sarver Murphy 89, of Kansas City, Missouri went to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 8, 2025, on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, at home surrounded by her family singing all her favorite Christmas songs.
Patty was born January 19, 1936, in Kansas City, MO to Jacob and Cordia Kincaid Sarver. She attended Central High School and worked at Hallmark cards upon graduation. Mom and Dad were married for 66 years. She stayed at home raising 8 children. In 1975 they bought the Skelly Gas Station on Westport Road. Mom was the bookkeeper for the gas station, leaving a 30-year legacy of hard work and sacrifice. In 1987 she went to work for the Jackson County courthouse and soon after took a job at the Kansas City Board of Election Commissioners retiring in 2009. She was a longtime member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church and a life-long member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. She was a member of Guardian Angels PTA and Guardian Angels Alter and Rosary Society, Bishop Miege High School Mothers Club and Bishop Miege Bridge Club. She was a proud American who loved God, Family and Country. She was a competitive bowler and loved to cook, especially her famous Texas sheet cake. She loved watching Jeopardy, working crossword puzzles and playing wordle. Mom was our biggest supporter; she loved sports and attending the games of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is proceeded in death by her parents Jacob and Cordia Sarver, her husband Jerry, sons John and Bill, granddaughter Susan, Sisters Mary and Eleanor, and brothers William, Herbert, and Robert. She is survived by her children Timothy, Mary Kathleen Hopfinger (Bernard), Elizabeth Dierks (Mark), Margaret Murphy, Joseph (Rosie), Robert (Heather), Maureen Moya (Juan), 41 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Don who is 103, many nieces and nephews, cousins, nephew James (Lafawn) Olson, nephew Bill Sarver, niece Mary Ann Croker and her longtime friend Shirley Sublette along with many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Visitation will be at 10:00 AM. Saturday, December 13 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3333 Broadway, Kansas City, Missouri with the Mass of Resurrection at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Park Lawn cemetery, 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Luncheon after graveside at Guardian Angels Catholic Church.
The family requests no flowers, Donations can be made to I AM DOM, Missouri Right to Life or Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care. The family wishes to express its appreciation to the staff and nurses at Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care.
