Patricia Hobson, 79, of Overland Park, KS, formerly of Gladstone, MO, passed away peacefully December 15, 2021 surrounded by family. Private services will be held. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to KC Hospice or Village Shalom two organizations that provided incredibly loving care to Pat in her last days.
Pat was born March 26, 1942 in Kansas City, MO to William J. and Dorothy (Fitzsimmons) ONeill. After graduating from St. Pius X High School, Pat achieved her Bachelor of Business Administration-Accounting/Economics degree from The University of Missouri-Kansas City. She invested many happy years as an accountant at Farmland Industries, achieving the position as Head of Accounts Payable Control.
Pat was a devoted wife, a loving mom, and a proud and adoring Grandma. She was the eldest of three children and loved her two brothers fiercely. She was a true and loyal friend, and never met a stranger she couldnt have a discussion with on a broad range of topics. She was a voracious reader and exceptionally erudite. Pat loved to travel throughout the U.S. and abroad and was absolutely fascinated by new cultures and people. One of her favorite activities was hosting foreign exchange students when her daughters were in school, and later she enjoyed spending hours talking with visiting faculty from all over the world who she welcomed into her home. Some of her favorite trips abroad included Germany, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, and Ireland.
Pat probably should have been a pharmacist because she researched pharmacology as a hobby and could tell you anything and everything about any medicine. She was also passionate about many charitable causes and enjoyed some years after her retirement tutoring English language to students at her local library.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Brian Hobson; and brother, Thomas E. ONeill. Survivors include her daughters, Trisha Hobson and Jennifer Vrablic and husband Dave; brother, William "Bill" ONeill, Jr.; mother-in-law Freda Hobson; several sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law; four nephews, three nieces, and two adored grandchildren, Mark and Sarah Vrablic.
