Patricia A. Welsh

March 15, 1923 — March 21, 2018

Patricia Dimond Welsh, 95, died peacefully March 21, 2018 surrounded by her family. Patricia was born in Humboldt, Kansas on March 15, 1923, the daughter of Joseph Chester and Margaret Frances (Schmidt) Dimond. Patricia spent a large part of her youth and attended school in Chanute, Kansas. Upon graduation, she moved to Kansas City to work for TWA. There she met a handsome neighbor and the love of her life, whom she married on October 11, 1950, Edward J. Welsh Jr. Together they were blessed with six children. However, in 1973, when the children were ages 7-20, Patricias husband died suddenly leaving her to raise the children alone. She soon returned to work for the government at the Department of Defense. Though she reentered the work force, her true devotion was as a mother and grandmother to her beloved family. There was nothing more important to "Grandma" than her family and her faith. She was devout Catholic and lived her faith every day. The virtues that she taught her family are a testament to the life she lived. She was a perfect role model for all; loving, humble, and selfless. Patricia is preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Welsh Jr, her parents, and brother, John "Jack" Keane Dimond and numerous brothers- and sisters-in-laws. She is survived by her children, Daniel (Mary Ann) Welsh, Deborah (Randy) Huber, Terrance (Jan) Welsh, John (Kerry) Welsh, Kathleen (Greg) Watkins, and Richard (Jamie) Welsh, 21 grandchildren and their spouses, 23 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Janice Dimond, Margaret Gordon, Aileen Welsh, and brother-in-law, Leo Michael Welsh. Rest in peace mom, we will miss you dearly! Visitation will be conducted on Sunday, March 25 from 1:30-3:30 and with a prayer of the Holy Rosary at 3:15 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church 11822 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Mo. 64131. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, March 26, at 10:30, also at St. Thomas More.
