Nora Ann Ferguson

Nora Ann Ferguson of Kansas City, MO passed away on December 21, 2019 at the family home with great care from family and Kansas City Hospice.
She was born in Oughterard, County Galway, Ireland to Michael J. Walsh and Anne Marie (Sweeney) Walsh on March 29, 1925 under the thatched roof of their small farm house.
She was the third of eight children: Bridget, John, Nora, Roger, Winifred (Una), Patrick, Julia, and Michael.
Their mother passed away from complications with the birth of Michael. Their father passed a short time later from heart failure.
The children were then raised by the Nuns of St Annes Parochial House, although the older boys still worked the farm with a Great Uncle named Tom Hackett. Nora later moved to London, England to a achieve a nursing certificate.
On December 13, 1953 she boarded the S.S. United States from Southampton booked to New York with her final destination in Kansas City. She first met her Aunt Julia and Uncle Frank Hastings under the big clock at Union Station. She lived with them at 3915 Charlotte with a cousin from Chicago named Michael Walsh who was known as "Topper". Frank Hastings was a union Pipe Fitter and the proprietor of The Golden Arrow Inn located at 5701 Troost Avenue. Nora was employed by the Kansas City Star procuring file photos for news stories. She was preceded in death by all of her siblings and then her husband John H. Ferguson on April 23, 2004.
They were married at St. James Catholic Church on January 26, 1957. John and Nora are survived by two sons, Sean and Frank Ferguson, both of Kansas City with multiple generations of nieces and nephews in the United States and England who all lovingly know her as "Aunt Nora". Nora became a Naturalized Citizen of the United States of America on September 29, 1999. She was so proud of this. God truly does Bless America.
Visitation will be held at Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Parish on Friday December 27, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. with a Rosary and the Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care.
