Morey Bartlett

April 1, 1942 — March 17, 2018

Morey left us on March 17, 2018 just before his 76th birthday. We are sure he went home to the Lord so he could get some peace and quiet and maybe go fishing again. The multiple cancers, strokes and kidney failure took his life but not his ornery, caring spirit. Even though he struggled with fatigue and was often quiet he still loved to tease his sons, their pets and especially his granddaughter when given the chance.
Maurice Russell Bartlett was born in Wichita, KS on April 1, 1942. His family moved to Omaha, NE when he was in grade school. Morey graduated from North High School and attended Nebraska University at Omaha. While in Omaha he worked for many years in the mechanical/engineering field at several companies in town. Also an Assistant Scoutmaster he spent many of his weekends camping and helped his sons and other scouts earn the rank of Eagle Scout. When the family moved to KC and Morey worked for various engineering firms here before launching his own company Bartlett Design Group. Before retiring he trained many others who became successful in areas of that business. He made lifelong friends and contacts throughout the HV/AC industry.
Morey enjoyed carving wood, was Mr. Fix-it around the house and loved to go fishing. He was always ready to help a friend or neighbor with any project. He was proud of his family, his lawn and his pie crusts too. His pies were a favorite at parish Lenten Fish Fries.
Preceded in death by his parents Lee V. and Margaret Bartlett of Omaha, NE.
Survived by his wife Patti (Thacker) his true love and dance partner for over 50 years, sons Corey (Jennifer) of Topeka, Chris (Angie) of Lees Summit, and granddaughter Breanna, brother Bill (Sandy) of Omaha and sister Linda (Don) McWilliams of Arizona and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to your own favorite charity, Bishop Sullivan Center in KC, MO or Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church in Lees Summit.
