Mikes passion was sports. He loved to play all sports, but football was where he excelled. In 1970, Mike was given the highest football honor, presented by Rockhurst High School, the Edward Bukaty Award. This award is voted on by the players and coaches recognizing leadership on and off the field, and best overall performer. Mike was also recognized as the Sunkist High School All American Football Player. In 1990, during Rockhurst High Schools 75th anniversary, Mike, along with his father, Joseph Fagan became members of the Hawklet All Time Football Team.

Once back in Kansas City, Mike discovered the world of Surety Bonds and continued to work as a Bond Manager/Producer throughout his career. He was well respected for his knowledge of the construction industry and his loyalty to all of his employers.
Mike said many times that his greatest accomplishment in his life was his kids, Ryan, Samantha and Molly. He loved them immensely from the moment they were born. He never missed a sports activity that they participated in, either as a coach or a spectator. He always expected them to excel in whatever they did and only wanted the best for them. They will miss his love and his sense of humor and especially his smile.
