Michael E. Frechin was born in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Rosemary (Roper) and Ed Frechin on April 11, 1946. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on March 4, 2022.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, JoAnn (Gorski), his brother and sister, Ed Frechin of Denton, Texas and Marilyn Blank of Towanda, IL, daughters Lauren Frechin of Kansas City and Christine (Mizael) Saucedo of Frisco Texas, and his six grandchildren, whom he loved fiercely - Mateo, Luca, Milo, Isla, Santiago and Lola.
After graduating from Rockhurst High School and Rockhurst College, he went on to serve our country in Vietnam. Mike worked for Holiday Sand and Gravel for 35 years and after retirement he shared his gifts and talents, by volunteering for the last 15 years at Bishop Sullivan Center, St. James Food Pantry, Morning Glory Caf and other organizations in the midtown area.
In his spare time, you could find him canning sauerkraut he made from scratch, hunting, watching baseball, sharing stories about his grandkids, taking care of his neighbors leaves, or watching whales from his favorite beach in Cabo.
His visitation will be held Monday, March 7, 5-7pm (starting with a Rosary) at Visitation Church, 5141 Main Street, KCMO, where he was a parishioner since 1971. Funeral will also be at Visitation Church on Tuesday March 8 at 10 am. Burial will be held in the near future at the Fort Leavenworth Cemetery, with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Bishop Sullivan Center, KCMO.
