Mary Edith Burns, 92, peacefully passed away on December 20, 2023, at her residence in Kansas City, MO.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO  64131 on Thursday, December 28 at 11:00 a.m.  Visitation will be at 10 a.m. with the Rosary prayed at 10:45 a.m.  Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery alongside her husband, Patrick Lee Burns.  Mary Edith was born on September 23, 1931, in Kansas City, Missouri to Bernard and Margaret (Morley) Zahner.  Mary Edith graduated from St. Theresa High School and was an active member of St. Thomas More Catholic Parish, a founding member of the STM Narthex Coffee Club and staffed “Mary Edith’s Corner” where she lovingly provided beautiful religious articles for sale to many parishioners.  She also was a member of the Ladies of Charity. Mary Edith was a Realtor with JC Nichols for over 20 years and retired from Reece Nichols in 2014.  Mary Edith was widowed in 1997 when her husband, Patrick passed away.  She is also preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Zahner Johnson, a grandson, Brian Euston and a son-in-law, Gary Hayden. She is survived by three daughters and two sons: Terry Hayden, Kathy(Kevin) Euston, Rick Burns, Nancy (Andy) Graham, Matt (Kelley) Burns.  She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Justin(T.J.) and Corbin Hayden; Mark (Laura) Euston, Betsy (Mike) Bartell and Jack (Taryn) Euston; Jack (Julia), Michael and Katherine Graham, Patrick (Andrea), Stephen (Rachel), and Grant (Madi) Burns.  She also leaves 6 great grandchildren and her sister, Madeline Zahner Hartnett of Fredonia, KS.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Thomas More Catholic Parish or the Little Sisters of the Poor, 8745 James A Reed Rd, Kansas City, MO 64138.
