Mary Theresa Scimeca

Mary Theresa Scimeca 77, passed away, Friday, July 26, 2019, peacefully at Kingswood Manor after a long illness.
Mary was born May 19, 1942 in Kansas City MO, to parents John and Rose Caffrey. Mary graduated from Glennon High School In 1959 and attended Donnelly College.In 1968 Mary went to work for IBM. She held various positons within the company as a Dispatcher. Branch Office Secretary, Systems Engineer, and Marketing Representative. It was at IBM where she met her three closest friends, Marilyn Faiman, Ina Maske, and Ann Hester. She retired from IBM in 1999. Mary went back to school in 2002 at Avila University to pursue a masters degree in psychology. She worked for various organizations as an LPC.
Mary had many friends and was a very active socially. She belonged to a book club, had a bunko group, and was an avid Chiefs fan. She had season tickets for many years. She was also passionate about reading and watching various TV series on PBS and Netflix. Mary loved the holidays and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Mary was an active member of St. Thomas More Church. She walked to 6:15 a.m. mass every day. She was very active physically and went to the gym 3-4 times a week.
Mary is loved and will be missed greatly by her family and friends. Her sons Michael Jr. (Mickey), and Kevin, her siblings, Helen Cooke (Jerry), Anne Cooper (Larry), and Tom Caffrey, 3 grandchildren Anthony, Sal, and Mary also many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents John and Rose Caffrey.
The visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2019. The funeral mass will follow 11:00 a.m. both will be at St. Catherine of Siena Church located at 4101 E 105th Terrace, Kansas City, MO. The celebrant of the mass will be Fr. Phillip Cooke, Marys nephew.
