Mary M. Raccuglia, 86, passed away on December 8, 2025. She was born on August 2, 1939, in Kansas City, Missouri to Aloysius and Ella (Willamina) Vohs.
She was surrounded in life—and in love—by a beautiful, devoted family and circle of friends, too many to name individually, each of whom she cherished deeply. She loved and was proud of every one of them.
In her eyes, everyone was good. She never judged anyone and had a remarkable way of seeing the best in people, even when they struggled to see it in themselves. Her love for her family was unconditional, and she lived her life putting the needs of others ahead of her own. Generous, caring, and endlessly giving, she was a steady presence of kindness and compassion.
She remained active and engaged until the final week of her life, finding joy in simple pleasures—working in her flower beds, raking leaves, and taking walks around the block. She loved antiquing with friends and going to tea rooms and treasured time spent together, especially during the holidays, which she embraced with great enthusiasm and festive spirit.
She was especially famous for her homemade lasagna and Italian cookies, a cherished Christmas tradition that brought family together year after year. With humor and humility, she once said that all she wanted at her funeral was her sharpshooter and her flip-flops—a reflection of her practical nature and gentle wit. She was an elegant person as well as down to earth.
Her husband, Dominic Raccuglia Sr., a KCMO Firefighter, preceded her in death ten years ago. She carried his memory with love and grace and now are reunited together in heaven. She is survived by her son, Dominic Jr and his wife, Tammy and their children, Haley and Dominic III and a host of family too numerous to mention.
She will be remembered for her open heart, her unwavering love for family, her belief in the goodness of others, and the quiet, meaningful ways she made the world better simply by being in it.
