Mary (Katie) Kathleen Kouba

June 1, 1965 — June 12, 2025

Lee's Summit, Missouri

Mary Kathleen “Katie” Kouba (O’Herron), 60, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away on June 12, 2025.

She was born June 1st, 1965 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Richard O’Herron and Mary Sue O’Herron (Biegel).

She graduated from Raytown South High School and went to the University of Missouri, where she studied Early Childhood Education and joined Kappa Alpha Theta. She later received her Masters in Education from Webster University.

She has always carried a passion for teaching and started her career at Westview Elementary. After having her daughters, she gave up her classroom to dedicate her time to raising them. She continued to be a highly sought-after substitute teacher at Cedar Creek Elementary, much to the delight of her daughters who attended the school.

There was nothing she loved more than her family and friends, which was evident throughout her life. She was always willing to help anyone in need and got the most joy by spending quality time with loved ones. She was a proud mother that went above and beyond for her children and was willing to drop everything to help them. In her free time Katie loved watching the Royals, listening to Ed Sheeran, and taking stroller walks with her Bichon Frisé, Izzy.

She will be fondly remembered by her two daughters, Elizabeth (Jordan) Dillon and Anna (John) Cappabianca, her parents, Sue and Richard O’Herron, her brothers Tom (Leigh Ann) and John (Andi) O’Herron, and her many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Tim O’Herron, her grandparents, Joe and Mary Biegel and Leland “Red” and Marie O’Herron, her uncles, Joe Biegel Jr., Dan Haskell, John Keller, and Dick Giesen.

Visitation and funeral services will be held at Our Lady of the Presentation Church in Lee's Summit, MO on Friday June 20th, 2025 from 9:30-11:00 AM and 11:00-12:00 PM respectively.
