Mary Jane McGuire, 96, passed peacefully into the hands of our Lord on Saturday, February 27, 2021, in Kansas City, Missouri. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, March 6, 2021 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 AM. Interment will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mary Jane was born on November 2, 1924 in Kansas City. MO to Thomas F. and Nora A. (Caples) McGuire. She attended St. Francis Xavier grade school, St. Vincent Academy high school, and St. Teresa College (now Avila). She worked for the Federal Aviation Administration from 1943-1980, retiring as a Budget Analyst.
Mary Jane was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, and was previously a member of St. Francis Xavier Church. She belonged to the following organizations: Red Bridge Social Club, Red Bridge Lioness Club, St. Joseph Health Center Auxiliary, Our Lady of Mercy Auxiliary, St. Thomas More Friends, St. Francis Xavier Ladies Sodality, Sisters Servants of Mary Auxiliary, and several bridge groups. Mary Jane volunteered at St. Joseph Health Care gift shop for over 25 years. She enjoyed playing bridge and bowling for many years. She also had a love for crossword puzzles and loved to travel.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Margaret Hardesty and Kathryn Porras; brothers, Thomas F. McGuire, Jr. and James McGuire. She is survived by her nieces, Sarah Hardesty and Mary Wiese (Bob); nephews, Robert Hardesty, Ed Porras, Dave Porras, and Joseph Porras; great-nephews, Brandon Troncoso, Geoffrey Wiese (Emily), Samuel Wiese (Breana), and David Porras; great-nieces, Allison Porras, Sholeh Porras, and Kaity Porras; great-great niece and nephew, Hallie Wiese and Isaiah Wiese; Carla Porras, and numerous other cousins and extended family.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas More Church, 11821 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO 64131; St. Francis Xavier Church, 1001 E 52nd St, Kansas City MO 64110; or to the Red Bridge Lions Club in care of Bob Durbin, 11907 Washington St., KC MO 64145.
