Mary J. Close

Mary J. Close, 88, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2020 surrounded by her children.She was born on July 15th, 1931 in Bland, MO to Joseph Williams and Hazel Irene.Her father passed away when she was 5, and she was raised by Paul Kelley.She is preceded in death by her father, her mother, husband Glen Close, son Glen P. "Butch" Close, sisters Lois Jean Bryant,Marjorie Everhart and great-granddaughter Ella Violet Close. Mary is survived by her daughter, Cherrel "Sherry" Evans (Kansas City, MO) and son, Raymond "Dutch" Close and his wife Robin (DeSoto, MO) and sister, Kathleen Sanders and her husband Tom (Leawood, Kansas).She is also survived by grandchildren Elizabeth Messer (Abram), Jacob Close (Hannah), Lindsey Wright (Aaron) and Melissa Mills (Jordan).Her great-grandchildren include, Gabriel, Gideon, Grace and Gage Messer; Abigail, Bethany, Jacob Jr., and Levi Close; Dakota and Taylor Silvey, Sophia Evans, Liam Wright; and Iris and Asher Mills. Many nieces and nephews also survive Mary. She loved each one of her family members with all of her heart.
Above all, Mary loved the Lord and was committed to her family. She was a prayer-warrior. She loved reading the Word of God and encouraging others in the Faith, always pointing them to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Many people have been touched by her words of wisdom, her ability to listen and her smile. She will be missed more than words can convey.
