Mary H. Dunham, 87, passed away April 7, 2021. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am 10:30 am on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. The rosary will be prayed at 10:30 am followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Inurnment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions in Marys name to the Outdoor classroom at Rainbow School, 7850 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO 64131
Mary was born on June 12, 1933, in Topeka, KS to Joseph and Leona (Becker) Haefele. She graduated from Hayden High School. Mary later met and married James Dunham in 1952. To this union they were blessed with six children. In addition to raising her six children, Mary worked various jobs, including Topsy's and Dental Care 50, but her love and devotion for children took her to Rainbow School where she was a beloved teacher for babies. It was her title of Mom and Grandma, though, which she was most proud of. Mary was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church for many years. Mary enjoyed her bridge group and her many volunteer opportunities, especially reading with students at St. Elizabeth School and helping residents at Carondelet Manor attend their weekly mass, where she was also a Eucharistic Minister.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; and 9 siblings. She is survived by her sons; Gerard Dunham, Leo Dunham, Michael Dunham; daughters, Susan Dunham, Carol Gromling, Mary Curfman, 13 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
