Mary Lou Fuentes

Mary Lou Fuentes, 80, of Kansas City, MO passed away December 25, 2023, with her husband by her side.

Mary Lou was born May 5, 1943, the daughter of John Joseph “Jack” and Anne (Snowden) McCarthy, in Kansas City. She went to St. Therese Little Flower for grade school and then attended Bishop Hogan High School. She then followed up high school by going to Kansas City Junior College where she obtained an Associate’s degree. She found her career with the railroad union at Kansas City Southern, working in the purchasing department. Mary Lou met her husband, Anthony Fuentes in 1962. They were married in 1971 and were happily married for over 52 years. Their marriage included the welcoming of a daughter and a son. Mary Lou loved spending time working in her yard on her plants and flowers and had a life-long love of animals, especially cats.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Anthony and their two children, daughter, Jennifer Fuentes; son, Joseph Fuentes; sisters, Marie Greene and Cathy McCarthy; her brothers-in-law, Benny Fuentes, Jesse Fuentes, and Vincent Fuentes, plus many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the medical staff of the Neuro ICU at Saint Luke’s Hospital. Their care and compassion were very much appreciated.

Visitation is from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Muehlebach Chapel located at 6800 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64131. Memorial contributions may be given to Wayside Waifs at 3901 Martha Truman Rd, Kansas City, MO 64137.
