Mary Catherine Atchity

Mary Catherine Atchity, 100 years young, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at John Knox Care Center in Lees Summit, Missouri. A Visitation will be held from 9:30am to 11:00am at Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church, 130 NW Murray Road, Lees Summit, Missouri 64081, on Tuesday, October 24th. Mass of Christian Burial will follow, starting at 11:00am. The burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.Catherine was born on May 5, 1917 in Kansas City, Missouri, to Alphonce Monteil and Ellen (Griffin) Monteil. She devoted her life to helping others. Catherine was President of Ladies of Charity of Kansas City (1965-66) as well as President of Rockhurst Circle. She also served others through her church, Our Lady of the Presentation, and volunteered at John Knox Village. Catherine received the Buck ONeal Legacy Seat Award from the Kansas City Royals in recognition of her years of dedication to the service of others.She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward J. Atchity, Sr.; daughter, Kathleen Coco; sisters, Margaret and Helen Monteil; and daughter-in-law, Patricia Atchity. Catherine is survived by her son, Edward J. Atchity, Jr.; son-in-law, Matteo Coco; grandchildren, Tim Atchity and wife Stephanie, Sheila Gray and husband Carl, Deborah Ravencamp and husband Rob, Tony Coco and wife Jill, Edward Coco and wife Colleen, Lou Coco, and Nick Coco and Danielle; great grandchildren, Max and Gabi Atchity, Tyler and Carly Gray, Ethan and Jared Ravencamp, and Sophie and Matt Coco. Catherine is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
