Martha Jo Pritchard

January 27, 1932 — September 3, 2022

On September 3, 2022 Jo passed peacefully from this life back into the arms of her other half, LD. She was surrounded by her family on both sides of consciousness. Jo was 90 years of age.

Jo was born January 27, 1932 in Kansas City, MO to Otto Neal Walters and Martha Ellen Watters Walters. Jo was one of eleven children and the last surviving sibling.

Most of her youth was spent in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. At the age of 14 she met a persistent young LD Pritchard. after spurning his many attempts to win her over she at last relented. She was sure he would soon lose interest in his best friend’s little sister. They were married 2 weeks after Jo’s high school graduation and we’re inseparable for the next 69 years until LD’s death September 8, 2019.

Jo and LD raised two daughters, Deborah and Teresa. They also delighted in their granddaughters Amy and Sarah. Hunter, their great grandson was the apple of their eyes.

Jo was an exceptional wife and mother. Her abilities in the kitchen were legendary. She was rightly known by all who knew her as the “pie queen”.

Jo and LD loved to travel, especially by train. Their favorite destination was Las Vegas, Nevada where she almost never came home with less than she went with.

Card parties were frequent and always fun, full of laughter and food. She taught her granddaughters math by playing blackjack!

Jo worked in several offices as time with her family allowed. She was also an important partner in several of LD’s business ventures.

Jo was preceded by her parents and ten siblings. Dorothy Weiner, Neal Walters, Jr., James Walters, Ruth Bailey, Lola Walker, Thomas Walters, Sally Fancher, Peggy Davidson, Patty Sue Stubbs and John Steven Walters. Also preceding her was son-in-law Larry Linhardt.

She is survived by daughters Deborah Linhardt, Sedona, AZ and Teresa Bockting (Charlie), Lees Summit, MO. Two granddaughters Amy Bockting, Lees Summit, MO and Sarah Bockting, Denver, CO. Great grandson Hunter Bockting, Denver, CO. Many nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of Jo’s life will be held at a future date.
